Heugah goes on the hunt for new rug trends and designers
This month we’re treating you to not just one blog full to the brim with rug and interiors
insights, but two! In the first blog of 2023 we looked at some of the interior design trends
coming down the tracks this year, perfect for anyone looking to redecorate a room or
whole home over the coming months. In this blog, we’re still exploring the latest trends
in rug design and interiors accessories, but with a twist!
It’s trade show season, so we’re taking you behind the scenes as Heugah’s director
Mark has journeyed over the channel to attend interior design shows in Hanover and
Paris. These trade shows represent the perfect opportunity to see what the great and
good of the design and interiors trade have pinpointed as the must-have colours,
textures and styles for the year ahead. It’s also the perfect time for a catch up with
representatives of the rug designers we sell here at Heugah interiors. Let’s take a closer
look at what Mark got up to at each of the shows:
Domotex in Hanover, Germany
Domotex is a leading global flooring event, so it’s a must-visit for anyone involved in the
rugs and mats trade. It takes place in Hanover (or Hannover, as the locals call it) every
January and it’s the perfect place to discover exciting new products and designs to bring
to the UK.
The Domotex show also plays host to design awards for rugs (which are referred to as
"carpet" awards because there's only one word in most European languages, tapis, and
it translates as both rug and carpet). The entrants are judged on the design, quality and
craftsmanship as well as the sustainability and branding. It was fascinating to see the
diverse range of rugs that were entered, and the winning designs were beautiful and
very worthy of their successes.
Maison Objet in Paris, France
Maison Objet is an iconic annual trade show devoted to everything interior and home
design that takes place in the perennially stylish French capital. It’s an excellent place to
remind ourselves of the wider interior trends and see how designers are using rugs and
other flooring in their latest schemes.
Maison Objet is also the perfect opportunity to meet with the people at the heart of the
brands we stock on the Heugah Interiors website and find out what their plans are for
the year ahead – and beyond! With such a large and influential trade show taking place
in the city there are myriad fringe interior design-focused events taking place in Paris at
the same time as Maison Objet. We were lucky to also be able to attend one such fringe
event called Paris Deco, which was held in the design area of the city. We headed there
to visit our connections at Romo, Villa Nova, and Designer’s Guild. It was wonderful to
see their new collections of fabrics, wallpapers, trimmings and wall coverings and get a
sneak preview of upcoming creations, limited editions, and unique pieces in their
showrooms.
