Our favourite 2025 interior design trends

Published by Tara Punter | January 29th, 2025

Now that the decorations have come down and the sparkle and indulgence of Christmas is a fading memory, it’s time to look ahead to key interior trends for 2025. Every year we love delving into the latest fashions and enduring styles that will grace homes this year and working out how to weave them into our rooms. If you’re planning a spot of DIY this year or a total redesign of all your rooms, this blog is essential reading before you get started! Let’s take a closer look at the Pantone Colour of the year and some of the 2025 interior trends to watch…

Warm Neutrals

If, like us, you appreciate the pared back and calming naturals for some of your rooms (we’re thinking peaceful bedrooms that invite you to relax and unwind), it’s great to see neutrals remain on the trend list this year! These are not the cool grey tones that were everywhere a few years ago (the now rather dreaded ‘millennial grey’) but warmer shades of pale camel, beige and off-white. To add warm neutral tones to your home with a gorgeous new rug, why not take a closer look at this from Brink & Campman and this Rezas rug.

The Pantone colour of the year

This year’s colour of the year, as decreed by Pantone, is mocha mousse – a warming, chocolate/coffee brown that oozes cosy richness. We love this shade because it’s so versatile. You can add it to rooms where you’re aiming for a warm neutral aesthetic (see above), or pair it with bolder colours if you prefer a maximalist vibe. Either way, we have some gorgeous rugs that tick the ‘mocha mousse’ colour box, including this Asiatic Rug called Blade Border in chocolate mocha – perfect! To browse more rugs in mocha brown shades, just filter by colour when you’re using our website.

Maximalism gets textured

We’re thrilled that the maximalist look is sticking around too, and we so enjoy seeing images on social media of homes just bursting with colour and pattern. This year it’s all about adding in more texture, for example curtains with pleats and sofas with skirts and folds… yes, really! But if you prefer to add texture in a slightly more subtle way, why not take a look at some of these rugs that use texture as a focal point? From the elegant and contemporary Lines rug from from GAN to the tribal style of the Lorena Canals Azteca, we can help you nail this trend!

Bold patterns for curtains and flooring

This trend neatly dovetails into that enduring maximalist look, and it’s all about bold and colourful patterns for textiles in your home. Think geometric shapes with plenty of colour and a lot of mid-century influence, like Orla Kiley’s iconic designs. Luckily, we have plenty of rugs and cushions in stock from Orla Kiely, including this fabulous design featuring her iconic multi-stem pattern! Shop the look here.

Cosy reading nooks

If you follow Heugah Interiors on social media (click here to visit our Instagram page and here for Facebook) then you’ll know that we love seeing all people’s different takes on a reading nook. Whether that’s a bay window filled with cushions, the corner of a living room or a little mezzanine or loft, there’s nothing quite like a space dedicated to reading. We’re understandably thrilled that cosy reading nooks have made it onto the 2025 trend list, not least because it means we should see even more of them on social media! If you’d love to create a nook all of your own, remember we can help you make it extra comfy and cosy with fluffy rugs, stylish cushions and warm throws.
